Experiencia de un Programa de Neurorrehabilitación Integral en adultos con esclerosis múltiple en Cuba

RESUMEN
Introducción: El tratamiento de la esclerosis múltiple se hace cada vez más holístico. La integración y la diversidad de enfoques biomédicos, psicológicos, psicosociales y de la educación constituye una clave esencial en la búsqueda de nuevas propuestas de estrategias y programas de neurorrehabilitación integral.
Objetivo: Evaluar la eficacia de un programa de neurorrehabilitación integral diseñado para mejorar la calidad de vida en pacientes con esclerosis múltiple.
Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio cuasi-experimental, prospectivo, longitudinal en 162 pacientes que se someten al Programa Nacional de Neurorrehabilitación Integral por 6 semanas. Se analizó el comportamiento de los pacientes, antes y después del tratamiento, evaluados por el inventario de calidad de vida en esclerosis múltiple (MSQLI).
Resultados: Se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas en el componente físico del estado de salud de los pacientes, componente mental de estado de salud e impacto de la fatiga.
Conclusiones: De acuerdo con los resultados obtenidos, se muestra que el Programa de Neurorrehabilitación Integral es útil para mejorar la calidad de vida en adultos con esclerosis múltiple, especialmente los componentes físicos, mental e impacto de la fatiga.
