Consideraciones psicobiológicas sobre las adicciones alimentarias

RESUMEN
El presente trabajo ofrece un recorrido desde las condiciones conceptuales para demostrar la trascendencia que tendrán las adicciones en la psicopatología del siglo XXI, sobre todo las que se denominan adicciones sociales y, en particular, las adicciones alimentarias. Naturalmente nos concretamos a lo que se ha denominado como el análisis descriptivo de las características psicopatológicas que caracterizan la conducta adictiva, y en las consideraciones funcionales se establecen las condiciones personales y socioambientales de vulnerabilidad y de riesgo a las adicciones alimentarias. En el sustrato psicobiológico se destaca el papel fundamental que desempeña la dopamina del núcleo
accumbens en los mecanismos de refuerzo, así como la liberación de encefalinas y los mecanismos hedónicos para, finalmente, retroalimentar la corteza prefrontal e instaurar un comportamiento adictivo.
