INTRODUCCIÓN

El número de trasplantes renales ha presentado un incremento significativo durante la última década. En este sentido, en la Unión Americana, se cuantificaron 47,254 pacientes en la lista de espera para trasplante renal del 2006; comparativamente con los reportados en 1997, se identifica un incremento del 33%. Lo anterior, expone un incremento en la demanda de este procedimiento.
