RESUMEN
La caries dental es un problema de salud pública. La caries temprana de la infancia, antes conocida como caries por biberón o síndrome de biberón se debe a múltiples factores: físicos, biológicos, ambientales, conductuales, hábitos alimenticios y de higiene. Esta enfermedad se puede prevenir y por lo tanto se debe hacer énfasis en la higiene y en los hábitos alimenticios. El objetivo del artículo es resaltar la importancia de mantener la salud bucal así como las repercusiones que ésta tiene en la salud.
