Influencia de la prolactina sérica en la arquitectura del sueño

RESUMEN
El sueño se define como un estado de inconsciencia del que se puede sacar a la persona mediante estímulos sensoriales o de otro tipo. El sueño y la vigilia, como muchas conductas y actividades fisiológicas, tienen una periodicidad circadiana de aproximadamente 24 horas. Diferentes hormonas han sido estudiadas para conocer su asociación con el sueño. Se han reportado estudios experimentales en humanos para determinar la relación entre los niveles fisiológicos de prolactina y el sueño. Los estudios en animales reportan la relación pero con niveles anormalmente elevados de la hormona. A pesar de todos estos estudios, aún es controvertida la relación entre los niveles anormalmente elevados de prolactina sérica y la arquitectura del sueño.
