Los bloqueadores de los receptores beta-adrenérgicos son un grupo de drogas con diversas indicaciones clínicas. Los fármacos de este grupo difieren en características cinéticas de los diferentes órganos, algunos afectan con mayor preponderancia órganos como el corazón o territorios como el bronquio, dependiendo de las características de selectividad. Las interacciones con las drogas que utilizamos durante la anestesia son frecuentes. Así mismo el desarrollo de nuevos fármacos y el mejor conocimiento de la fisiología de los receptores beta han llevado a nuevas indicaciones que el anestesiólogo debe conocer.
