El propofol, un nuevo anestésico en medicina veterinaria

RESUMEN
El propofol es un fármaco anestésico de reciente uso en anestesiología veterinaria. Sus características farmacológicas, efectos cardiorrespiratorios y el grado de analgesia y de relajación muscular que aporta proporcionan una excelente anestesia. Su asociación con diferentes tranquilizantes permite su participación en numerosos métodos anestésicos, pudiendo utilizarse como inductor previo a la anestesia inhalatoria o como anestésico de mantenimiento administrándolo en infusión. La recuperación de la anestesia es excelente, rápida, suave, tranquila y sin excitación. Como efectos colaterales se han notificado apnea y vómito.
