RESUMEN
Se presenta información actual en relación con la muerte celular por apoptosis, que es un
proceso biológico dependiente de un programa genético sistemático. Se analiza, además, la
importancia de este proceso en la atresia folicular ovárica de diversas especies, considerándola
como un evento celular reproductivo esencial que determina el funcionamiento ovárico.
