Epidemiología y resultados clínicos de las fracturas expuestas de la tibia

RESUMEN
De enero a diciembre de 1997 se trataron 285 pacientes adultos, entre 15 y 95 años de edad con fractura expuesta de la tibia, con localización diafisaria en 211 casos (74%), cuyo trazo más común fue en ala de mariposa (169 casos). El primer desbridamiento se hizo en menos de ocho horas en el 49.8% de los casos. La estabilización fue con fijador externo en 38.6% y con clavo centromedular en el 41.9%. Se logró la consolidación en 30.6 semanas en promedio. Las complicaciones fueron retardo de consolidación en 13.4%, consolidación viciosa en 13.4% y osteítis en el 11%.
