RESUMEN
Hoy en día, la enfermedad cardiovascular (ECV) representa uno de los principales problemas de salud pública a nivel mundial, por lo tanto es necesario contar con una serie de herramientas diagnósticas que permitan reconocer oportunamente la presencia de isquemia miocárdica para establecer tratamiento oportuno y con ello evitar un daño isquémico mayor y disminuir la morbi-mortalidad, lo que se traduce en ahorro de recursos económicos. Es importante, también, que estas herramientas diagnósticas permitan reconocer a todo individuo «sano» pero con factores de riesgo para desarrollar un síndrome coronario agudo (SCA). El presente artículo consiste en una revisión de los «biomarcadores» de lesión miocárdica frecuentemente utilizados, así como su poder predictor de enfermedad coronaria.
