Staphylococcus epidermidis formador de biofilm en blefaroconjuntivitis

RESUMEN
Objetivo: Comparar la presencia de
Staphylococcus epidermidis formador de biofilm en pacientes con y sin blefaroconjuntivitis, cuantificar el grado de formación de biofilm y determinar su sensibilidad frente a seis antimicrobianos.
Material y métodos: Estudio prospectivo de casos y controles. Se formaron dos grupos: grupo A de 47 pacientes con blefaroconjuntivitis y grupo B de 46 controles, sin blefaroconjuntivitis. A todos los participantes se les tomó frotis de borde palpebral y de fondo de saco conjuntival;
S. epidermidis se identificó en las colonias desarrolladas y se cuantificó la formación de biofilm de esta bacteria. Se efectuaron pruebas de sensibilidad a seis antimicrobianos. Los resultados se analizaron con la prueba estadística de χ
2.
Resultados: S. epidermidis formó biofilm en 70% de los casos del grupo A y en 43% del grupo B (p ‹ 0.05); la formación de biofilm fue mayor en el grupo A que en el grupo B. La sensibilidad a eritromicina, vancomicina, ciprofloxacina, gatifloxacina, cloramfenicol y oxacilina no mostró diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre
S. epidermidis formador y no formador de biofilm.
Conclusiones: Se aisló con mayor frecuencia
S. epidermidis buen formador de biofilm de pacientes con blefaroconjuntivitis, en este grupo la formación de biofilm fue mayor. La sensibilidad a los antimicrobianos probados es igual en
S. epidermidis formador y no formador de biofilm.
