Escrutinio en el cáncer de colon y recto

RESUMEN
El cáncer colorrectal es una neoplasia prevenible e idónea para el escrutinio, dado el conocimiento de la progresión de adenoma a carcinoma; el 70% son pacientes de riesgo promedio y el 30% tienen un componente hereditario o enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal que los hace de alto riesgo. Se recomienda a partir de los 50 años iniciar el escrutinio por los médicos de primer contacto en pacientes promedio con uno o varios de los siguientes métodos, búsqueda de sangre oculta en heces, sigmoidoscopia flexible, enema de doble contraste, colonoscopia virtual, y/o colonoscopia con toma de biopsia y/o polipectomía, para referir de manera oportuna al especialista. En pacientes de alto riesgo se cuenta ya con pruebas moleculares para búsqueda de mutaciones genéticas específicas, junto con los métodos antes mencionados.
