Uso de módulos nutricionales en la práctica pediátrica actual

RESUMEN
Los módulos nutricionales son mezclas o aislados de macronutrimentos que pueden
estar enriquecidas con micronutrimentos. Se añaden generalmente en pediatría a la
fórmula o a preparados enterales para aumentar el aporte energético o de algún nutrimento
específico. Existen módulos de hidratos de carbono entre los cuales se puede
mencionar: maltodextrinas, cereales, almidón de maíz. En los módulos de proteína
se considera la concentración, así como la adición de fortificadores y finalmente los
módulos de lípidos están integrados por aceite vegetal, triglicéridos de cadena media
y mezclas mixtas. La osmolaridad debe considerarse dependiendo el tipo de fórmula
y módulo a utilizar, los módulos de hidratos de carbono por lo general son los que
más aumentan la osmolaridad. La utilidad de la adición de módulos nutricionales en
la pediatría actual persiste y resulta una herramienta beneficiosa en diversas patologías
y estados nutricionales.
