Correlación de la severidad de los síntomas del tracto urinario inferior con la diabetes mellitus en población masculina

RESUMEN
Objetivo: Determinar la correlación de la severidad de los STUI con la
diabetes
mellitus en población masculina.
Material y métodos: Estudio transversal y analítico en una unidad de
medicina familiar en la Ciudad de México durante el año 2022, en 275
sujetos; se evaluó la severidad de los STUI mediante la Escala Visual
Análoga Gea
®, la medición de la diabetes
mellitus (DM) fue por su
tiempo de evolución, además, se estudió el consumo de diuréticos, café,
cerveza y tabaco. El análisis fue por estadística descriptiva e inferencial
mediante el coeficiente de correlación de Spearman (Rho).
Resultados: Solo se encontró correlación significativa en nicturia con
DM (Rho 0.202) y correlaciones medias con algunos de los STUI en
edad, diuréticos y tabaquismo; el 78.9 % refirió una buena calidad de
vida.
Limitaciones del estudio: Estudiar al fenómeno en un diseño transversal
como en las investigaciones previas, y no en uno longitudinal.
Originalidad: medir la cantidad de exposición de DM y otras covariables,
permitiendo realizar correlaciones con los grados de severidad de
los STUI, favoreciendo el análisis de causalidad del gradiente dosis
respuesta.
Conclusiones: Las correlaciones entre diabetes y síntomas del
tracto urinario inferior fueron débiles y medias, en su mayoría no
significativas, a pesar de que hay literatura mencionando esta asociación,
no es suficiente para deducir que la diabetes corresponda a un factor
determinante en la severidad de los STUI.
