Cáncer de mama. Detección oportuna en el primer nivel de atención

RESUMEN
El aumento constante de la morbilidad y mortalidad por cáncer de mama durante las últimas décadas, ha llevado a estudiar más los métodos de detección oportuna y cómo han contribuido a disminuir la mortalidad por esta enfermedad. Se realizó una búsqueda en Ovid-Medline, Cochrane, Synergy, Medic Latina, Science Direct, Ebsco-e-Journal Services, de la bibliografía relativa al tema publicada entre 1980 y 2005. La revisión se enfocó en el panorama epidemiológico del cáncer de mama, los factores de riesgo y los métodos de detección (beneficios y limitaciones), con el propósito de actualizar al médico de primer nivel en los avances diagnósticos más eficientes y útiles en la detección oportuna del cáncer de mama.
