El tratamiento quirúrgico de la enfermedad tromboembólica pulmonar (TEP) contempla dos escenarios clínicos.
El primero, la trombosis crónica no resuelta de arterias pulmonares (TCAP) que produce hipertensión arterial pulmonar (HAP) secundaria crónica, con numerosa literatura sobre la utilidad del tratamiento por tromboendarterectomía pulmonar bilateral, con experiencia sustantiva en pocos sitios del mundo, excepto en la Universidad de California en San Diego, que tiene más de 2,000 casos reportados; nosotros presentamos nuestra experiencia inicial en esta modalidad de tratamiento.
