Tratamiento actual de la fisura labial

RESUMEN

Se presentan los nuevos conceptos en el tratamiento de la fisura labiopalatina bilateral que se están manejando en nuestro medio y en otros centros de labio y paladar hendido. Las ideas nuevas han surgido de la necesidad de obtener mejores resultados en esta difícil malformación que desafía la destreza y la imaginación de los cirujanos más expertos. Es indispensable la coordinación de los equipos quirúrgico y dental para obtener resultados óptimos en una plastia nasolabial exitosa. Destacan la aplicación de ortopedia funcional prequirúrgica con placas palatinas no invasivas (sin fijación ósea) para moldeado de la zona nasoalveolar, distractores nasales externos para expansión de la columela y técnicas refinadas de plastia labionasal primarias precedidas o seguidas de moldeado nasal alveolar.
