RESUMEN

La obesidad es un importante problema de salud pública en nuestro país y en todo el mundo, que se percibe como un problema asociado al estilo de vida tanto de niños como de adultos. Muchas de las complicaciones cardiovasculares, metabólicas, neoplásicas, del sueño han sido asociadas a obesidad; en la actualidad se sabe que el sobrepeso es un factor de riesgo para el desarrollo de hepatopatía crónica y que la fibrosis puede desarrollarse en pacientes obesos en los que se sabe que no tienen ningún otro factor de riesgo para enfermedad hepática. Así también ha sido asociada con el desarrollo de hepatocarcinoma.
