Factores cardiometabólicos y de composición corporal asociados a proteinuria en estudiantes universitarios

RESUMEN
Antecedentes: La enfermedad renal crónica (ERC) afecta al 10% de adultos mundialmente y se espera que su incidencia aumente. La identificación de factores de riesgo en adultos asintomáticos se ha propuesto como alternativa factible para disminuir su incidencia, siendo proteinuria un predictor de función renal.
Materiales y métodos: Con el objetivo de investigar la asociación entre factores de composición corporal y cardiometabólicos (FCMCC) con proteinuria, se llevaron a cabo mediciones antropométricas y análisis de orina en individuos aparentemente sanos de entre 18 y 25 años, datos que luego fueron analizados mediante correlación de Spearman y regresión logística.
Resultados: La correlación de Spearman reveló una asociación entre la proteinuria y sexo masculino, el índice de agua extracelular/agua corporal total (AEC/ACT), la masa muscular esquelética (MME), el porcentaje de grasa total (PGC), y el agua corporal total (ACT). El análisis de regresión lineal logística mostró que MME, PGC, ACT, proteína total y urobilinógeno fueron predictores de proteinuria.
Discusión y conclusiones: A diferencia de estudios previos, encontramos una asociación positiva entre MME y proteinuria. Se propone que la actividad física explica este fenómeno, y, por tanto, la proteinuria podría no ser un biomarcador de compromiso renal en adultos jóvenes.
