Películas orales ultradelgadas con extractos de Agastache mexicana con actividad hipnótica como potencial tratamiento del insomnio

RESUMEN
Las películas orales ultradelgadas son sistemas de administración novedosos que no requieren agua para ingerirlas, son de rápida
liberación sistémica y permiten una dosificación cómoda y precisa, representan una opción para el suministro de metabolitos de plantas
medicinales usadas para problemas de insomnio como
Agastache mexicana. Sin embargo, la incorporación de moléculas complejas
puede alterar la función de las películas. Por ello, el objetivo de esta investigación fue el análisis de la reacción fisicoquímica de
las películas ultradelgadas de alginato de sodio y su actividad biológica al mezclarlas con los extractos etanólicos de
A. mexicana.
Se observó que después de integrar los extractos, las películas conservaron su morfología homogénea, grosor menor a 50 µm,
y un tiempo de solubilidad por debajo de los 10 min., mientras que la dureza y la elasticidad se incrementaron más del 40% y
60% respectivamente. Mediante el uso de la espectroscopía infrarroja encontramos que los grupos funcionales de los extractos
se conservan y no modifican la estructura química de las películas ultradelgadas. Adicionalmente, demostramos que las películas
conservan el efecto hipnótico de
Agastache mexicana, ya que los tiempos de latencia y de sueño en un modelo murino no sufrieron
cambios significativos, lo que significa un potencial tratamiento de origen natural ante desórdenes del sueño como el insomnio.
