Valoración preoperatoria: del cálculo de riesgo a la evaluación integral

RESUMEN
La valoración preoperatoria suele ser vista como una consulta médica cuyo principal
objetivo es estimar un riesgo prequirúrgico con base en modelos predictivos. Sin embargo,
la implicación global de estos análisis no siempre es considerada. El objetivo
de esta revisión es describir los alcances de la valoración preoperatoria como una
evaluación integral del paciente sometido a cirugía, que abarca desde la estratificación
del riesgo perioperatorio hasta la implementación de maniobras que permitan reducir
la incidencia de complicaciones posoperatorias y la mortalidad.
