Desarrollo futuro de la cirugía valvular. Nuevas prótesis y vías de acceso

RESUMEN

La cirugía de los pacientes valvulares ha evolucionado en los últimos años con la aparición de nuevas prótesis valvulares y nuevas técnicas de implantación de mínima invasión. Se discuten las ventajas de las nuevas prótesis aórticas mecánicas, de características hemodinámicas superiores, evitando en muchos casos la necesidad de ampliación del anillo valvular. Así mismo, se hace énfasis en las nuevas prótesis biológicas aórticas, de mínimo gradiente transvalvular y menor incidencia de calcificación. Las ventajas e inconvenientes de los diferentes procedimientos de mínima invasión quirúrgica son discutidas sin que hasta el momento se haya llegado a una conclusión definitiva en cuanto a su aplicación.
