Retroalimetación mecanoeléctrica y muerte súbita en insuficiencia cardiaca

RESUMEN
El mejor conocimiento de los mecanismos fisiopatológicos que perpetúan la insuficiencia cardiaca, que promueven su progresión y condicionan la muerte en los pacientes afectados por este grave padecimiento, ha permitido, encontrar un tratamiento farmacológico que mejora sin duda la clase funcional, reduce la mortalidad y prolonga la vida de estos pacientes, al evitar la progresión de la disfunción ventricular; por ello, se ha hecho más evidente la mortandad causada por arritmias, la cual se manifiesta por muerte súbita. En este artículo se revisan los aspectos involucrados en la génesis y fisiopatología que condicionan la muerte súbita en pacientes afectados por insuficiencia cardiaca crónica. Se enfatiza el papel que desempeña la retroalimentación mecano-eléctrica en la génesis de la muerte por arritmias, que afecta a estos pacientes, y la relación que tiene con otros mecanismos que interactúan en este proceso.
