Radioterapia y cardiotoxicidad

RESUMEN
La cardiotoxicidad comprende todo un campo de estudio dentro de la disciplina de cardio oncología. A su vez, la radioterapia representa uno de los tratamientos más señalados en el desarrollo de cardiopatía asociada a terapias oncológicas; y en este caso en particular, se denomina Enfermedad Cardiaca Inducida por Radiación (ECIR).
La prevención, detección temprana, y el tratamiento de la ECIR, se mantienen en constante estudio y representan un desafío para el futuro, sabiendo que la sobrevida de pacientes con cáncer se mantiene en aumento, y por ende es probable que aumente la prevalencia de casos con complicaciones cardiacas asociadas a radiación.
