RESUMEN
La mortalidad de los pacientes oncológicos se ha reducido significativamente debido a los avances en el diagnóstico precoz y el tratamiento del cáncer. No obstante, para mejorar el pronóstico se deben prevenir, diagnosticar y tratar las complicaciones derivadas de los tratamientos oncológicos mediante la constitución de equipos multidisciplinarios entre oncólogos y cardiólogos. Se presenta la experiencia de la cardioncología en el Hospital Hnos. Ameijeiras como modelo de organización en un hospital terciario potencialmente aplicable a hospitales secundarios en el país con sus resultados en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de la cardiotoxicidad y en el seguimiento de los sobrevivientes de cáncer.
