Pertinence of the Diploma in pedagogical preparation to form university professors in Mayabeque Province

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The University education requires professors to manage a group of knowledge and skills to be competent to contribute to the professional formation able to guarantee the satisfaction of the social function in the sciences where they work.Objective: To analyze the efficacy of the Diploma in pedagogical preparation to form university professors.
Methods: A descriptive crossed-sectional study was carried out at Mayabeque Faculty of Medical Sciences in 2019. The study universe was formed by 21 students who finished the first edition of the Diploma. The studied variables were: methodological and idiomatic preparation; Scientific information, technologies of information and communications; pedagogical themes, investigation; Infomed services and fulfillment of the expectative. Statistical procedures were used for processing the information.
Results: Knowledge about Didactics increased, aspects related to the structure of lessons were managed which went from 19 % to 95.2 %, followed by knowledge about type of lessons and evaluative instruments from 9.5 % to 85.7 %; knowledge about Virtual Health Library from a 14.3 % to a 71.4 % and about Virtual Health University from a 9.5 % to a 61.9 %.
Conclusions: Knowledge in graduated students are increased, they learn basic topics for the development of the teaching-methodological work, management of knowledge and investigation; they are prepared in the analysis and solution of social problems of science and technology and they are formed with an integral profile as University professors.
