ABSTRACT

This is a comparative, transversal and prospective study performed in the Coronary Department of the Hospital Medica Sur, from March 1 to September 1, 1999. Two groups of patient exposed to cardiac catheterization through femoral passage were compared, to one of them previous information was given about immobilization after cardiac catheterization in order to prevent bleeding risks and/or hematoma generation; the other group was given no information in advance. Adhesion to infirmary treatment and bleeding or hematoma generation decline was observed. The group receiving previous information kept the leg quiet voluntarily and the group receiving no information experienced more complications.
