Emotional Intelligence and Advanced Education, a dialectical pair?

ABSTRACT
Objective: to verify how the correspondence between the guiding principle structuring the theory of Advanced Education and the characteristics enunciated by various authors on emotional intelligence is evidenced.Materials and methods: theoretical and empirical methods were used. Theoretical inquiries: historical-logical, modeling, systematization, comparative, experiential education and documentary analysis. As empirical inquiries: observation, surveys and interviews. Within the statistical methods: the percentage calculations, the joint median was calculated and contingency tables were used to organize the information.
Results: the validity of the research was verified, with the qualitative transformations that take place in the professors, in this case 24 professors of the Doctoral Formation of the Latin American School of Medicine. Advanced Education is approached as an educational theory that is identified by the humanistic character, the influence on the improvement of human behaviors, the process of intellectual production, on professional performance, as one of the actions and results, as well as the relationship with emotional intelligence and it is confirmed how this relationship directs pedagogical thinking, towards the sphere of teachers’ feelings and emotions in the process of professional improvement.
Conclusions: it is verified that the development of emotional skills increases the intellectual capacity of teachers, favors a qualitatively superior training of human and labor resources as objectives defended by Advanced Education, to improve educational practice in overcoming.
