ABSTRACT
Objective: To present our experience on coronary stent placement in patients with ischemic heart disease.
Design: Case series report.
Setting: ICU of a private medical center, México City.
Patients: Seventy-seven patients (men 82%, mean age 60 ± 12 yrs) with ischemic heart disease.
Interventions: Coronary stent placement after angioplasty.
Results: A total of 105 stents were implanted: 65% in patients with unstable angor pectoris and 35 in IAM patients. In 15 months follow-up after stenting 36 (75%) patients with unstable angor pectoris and 52 (67%) with AMI were free of clinical manifestations of ischemic cardiopathy, and the mortality rate was 6.5%. Partial stenosis was found in 40% and 33% of unstable angor pectoris and AMI, respectively.
Conclusion: This study shows a benefit of coronary stenting for the treatment of ischemic heart disease patients in our hospital.
