ABSTRACT
Introduction: the medical science universities as an integral part of the Cuban higher education system maintain the challenge of guaranteeing quality training for students in the undergraduate and postgraduate courses and strengthening research in the solution of health problems that affect the population.Objective: delimit the strategic pillars of the university management system in the 2019-2020 course in Medical Sciences of Granma.
Method: qualitative approach based on a theoretical conception that allows during the academic year to raise the quality and efficiency of the training and research processes of the University.
Conclusions: the improvement of teaching and methodological work, the improvement and transformation of the cloister, together with the accreditation process constitute the strategic pillars of work in the academic year 2019-2020, supported by political-ideological and extensionist work, allow to assume a University management system in which the analysis, reflection and creativity of teachers are based on the continuous improvement of the quality of training, without leaving aside research aimed at increasing the efficiency of educational and care processes.
