ABSTRACT
63-year-old black male patient with sectorial and asymmetric retinitis pigmentosa and open angle glaucoma, infrequent association in this atypical way of retinitis in the medical practice. Both of them cause an evolution to a marked visual incapacity due to the superposition of their individual effects. This case is presented with the objective to show the importance of diagnosing their association. For the diagnosis, symptoms, intraocular tension, and its variability, disorders of the visual field and fundoscopic lesions were taken into consideration because both diseases mask between them, so the management becomes very difficult. In the differential diagnosis pseudo retinitis and other types of glaucoma are excluded. To keep stable the intraocular tension, acuity and the visual field and changes in the optical disc in a moderate way are achieved by local hypotension therapy and rehabilitating treatment.
