ABSTRACT
Introduction: Thoracic echography constitutes a very useful procedure for the diagnosis of multiple diseases in children. It has many advantaged which characterizes it: It can be easily learned and it is not ionizing, something especially important in pediatric age. Objective: To deep and update knowledge about the most important aspects of chest echography in pediatric ages.
Methods: A wide bibliographical research was carried out in the medical data bases (Scielo, Pubmed) about written and electronic materials related to the topic, using the following searching descriptors: echography thoracic, echographic semiology of the normal and pathologic thorax en Pediatrics.
Conclusions: Thoracic echography is a very valuable technique, with the advantage of being innocuous, portable, rapid and with a low cost. Knowlwdge about horacic echography is a right interpretation of radiological and clinical findings of the patient and it allows to avoid unnecessary tests and damaging radiation doses in pediatric ages, easing the early and right diagnosis of respiratory disorders.
