Organizational quality management with a gender perspective

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The National School of Public Health, an institution that deals with postgraduate training and research in public health, requires that professors and support staff in teaching and research have gender equality incorporated into their work. Gender perspective must be mainstreamed into the working climate of the institution.Objectives: To identify the gender gaps in organizational management that takes place in the institution.
Methods: The records of the Human Resources Department of the National School of Public Health were reviewed and in-depth interviews were conducted with the institution's directors and discussion groups with officials. The quantitative information was disaggregated by sex and summarized in percentages. A statistical homogeneity test with a significance level of 0.05 was used to identify differences. With those coming from qualitative sources, the resulting categories were reached at from the content analysis.
Results: No marked differences were found between women and men in most of the variables studied, although gaps persist in terms of access to higher level decision-making positions.
Conclusions: Although there are no marked gender gaps in management at National School of Public Health, there are areas in which concern should be intensified, such as women's access to higher-level decision-making positions in the institution and the occupation of support tasks.
