ABSTRACT
Following the declaration of COVID-19 as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the detection of the first cases in Cuba, an intense campaign has been deployed to confront the disease, involving all sectors of Cuban society in a systemic manner. Science has played a leading role in focusing actions from a comprehensive viewpoint. The analysis of aspects that guide: how to conduct social relations; how to determine and increase people's perception of risk; how to modify behaviors; how to make measures more effective in terms of age, generic and geospatial diversity; how to address social vulnerabilities; constitutes the central axis for the work of the entire Cuban institutional system directly linked to the fight against the pandemic and forms part of the measures implemented by the country's top management. Hence, this communication aims to provide relevant criteria regarding socio-psychological variables that are included in the social determinants of health managed by the WHO and that are fundamental in the fight against the disease and its spread. Likewise, it aims to contribute to the improvement of active research from a multifactorial articulation that includes, in addition to the personnel of each health area, representatives of mass organizations and social workers. This incorporation is necessary to carry out these actions based on a socio-demographic characterization of each community and to allow for comprehensive epidemiological monitoring.REFERENCES
