ABSTRACT

Hydradenitis suppurative is a chronic and recurrent inflammatory pathology whose management is a challenge for healthcare professionals. In severe cases, surgical excision is necessary. Such splitting is often complicated by difficult closure and high recurrence rates. In studies of recent years, conducted in various countries negative pressure wound therapy has been suggested, since it has been observed to provide adequate conditions for wound healing; promotes granulation, increases the effectiveness of surgical closure and helps control infection. In addition, healthcare costs can be reduced and the patient’s quality of life increased. However, although the revised evidence seems to show that positive results can be expected from this therapy, the small amount of research conducted in humans and the small number of samples is not sufficient to establish general recommendations. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the number of randomized clinical trials. This will examine the effectiveness and possible complications in the short and long term. In this way, healthcare professionals can offer their patients the best care based on the latest evidence.
