ABSTRACT
Hyperpigmentation of the skin during pregnancy is frequently
observed, there are few reports of longitudinal melanonychia
associated with this physiological condition. Longitudinal
melanonychia is commonly observed in dark skin and oriental
people, it rarely occurs in caucasians. We present a 33-year-old
female, with longitudinal melanonychia in fingernails and toenails
with hyperpigmentation in interphalangeal and metacarpophalangeal
joints developed during the second trimester of
pregnancy and persisted five weeks after delivery.
