ABSTRACT
Squamous Cell Carcinoma is a skin cancer, originated from epidermal keratinocytes. It is the
most common non-melanoma skin cancer after Basal Cell Carcinoma. It is estimated at the
world, it has an incidence of 13%-33%. It predominates in persons with phototypes I and II,
male sex (2:1) and with notable incidence after age 40. Predisposing factors are precursor
lesions, exposure to UV radiation and ionizing radiation, environmental and occupational
carcinogens, immunosuppression, scars, burns or chronic exposure to the sun, inflammatory
dermatosis or chronic scarring, Human Papillomavirus, as well as Genodermatosis (albinism,
xeroderma pigmentosum, epidermolysis bullosa). We present the clinical case of a patient
who developed high-risk squamous cell carcinoma on a chronic discoid lupus erythematosus
scar of 20 years of evolution, carrying out the surgical removal of the lesion using a rhomboid
flap technique with satisfactory results without evidence of recurrence.
