ABSTRACT
Tissue Doppler imaging is a relatively new echocardiographic method that complements conventional pulsed Doppler and is particularly useful when left ventricle diastolic function analysis is intended. Tissue Doppler is based on myocardial and mitral annulus velocity recordings and it has been useful in differentiating pseudonormal filling patterns. It has also allowed non-invasively distinguish constrictive pericarditis from restrictive cardiomyopathy as well as pulmonary capillary wedge pressure estimate. Color M-Mode represents a promising tool for estimation of left ventricle filling pressures.
