ABSTRACT

Tinea nigra is a superficial dermatomycosis caused by Hortaea werneckii a yest-like, dematiaceous and halophilic fungus. Lesions are usually asymptomatic and can affect palms and less frequently soles.
A case of bipodal tinea nigra plantaris is presented in a seven year-old female with hyperhidrosis and living near the beach in Golfito, Costa Rica.
