ABSTRACT
The natural history of atherosclerotic disease includes a long silent or asymptomatic period. This condition, called subclinical atherosclerosis disease (SAD) is highly prevalent in the general adult population and it also has been associated with cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The SAD markers are a set of anatomical, functional or serological findings that allow to diagnose the existence of atherosclerotic disease in the preclinical stage.
