Formation of professional values in second-year students of Physical Therapy Technology and Rehabilitation

ABSTRACT
Introduction: values are formed in the process of socialization under the influence of various factors (the family, the school, the mass media, political, social and religious organizations). Values education is a systemic, multidimensional, intentional and integrated process that guarantees the formation and development of the conscious personality and is concretized through curricular, extracurricular and throughout life.Material and method: a descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out, through a survey on the formation of values, in the “FranK País” International Orthopedic Scientific Complex with the participation of all second-year students of Physical Therapy and Health Technology. Rehabilitation during the 2017-2018 academic year. The universe was constituted by 22 students.
Results: 9,1% of the students surveyed agreed that these values should be formed both in the school and in the family, 72,7% agreed that these are transmitted, formed and developed and blame the detriment of their values by not having adequate training in the family, representing 72,7%.
Conclusions: the students surveyed do not have knowledge about what professional values are, with emphasis on the lack of professional training in the family and at school. It is a necessity to develop an education integrated in the academic, the labor and the research, which allows to move towards a better future.
