Control gliycaemic and complications macro vascular in patients with diabetes mellitus type II

ABSTRACT
Introduction. Impaired control of glucose causes the onset of macrovascular complications in patients with diagnosis of diabetes mellitus type II.
Methods. A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in 98 patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus type II admitted to CIMEQ during the period from January 2015 to December 2016.
Results. 58,2 % were females and age groups from 60 to 70 years old were predominant (n=39). In 58 patients the development of diabetes in time was over 20 years old. The chosen treatment was metformin which had a better glycaemic control. The poor glycaemic control was associated to a higher probability of arterial hypertension, a total body and abdominal obesity, and hypertriglyceridemia. A poor glycaemic control was present in 64,3 % and macrovascular complications were present in 70,4 % with a close relation between them (p<0,001).
Conclusions. The prevailing poor glycaemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus type II kept a close relation with macrovascular complications and with development in time of over 20 years old from the beginning of the disease.
