ABSTRACT
The Covid-19 outbreak that started in China in late 2019 has expanded rapidly, configuring a pandemic and health institutions, epidemiological surveillance, universities, and medical associations around the world are working to define –
precisely the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of the disease-causing virus, SARS-CoV-2. In this article, we present a reflection on the effects and the lessons learned from the pandemic in nursing homes in which we work as doctors, emphasizing how the practice of humanistic and patient-centered medicine has contributed to the institution of the necessary measures for containment and treatment of the disease, with reduction of its impacts.
