ABSTRACT

Violence against women with non-hegemonic sexualities is silenced, minimized, rationalized, denied and/or accepted by individuals and society. Objective. to identify the impact that social determinants has in the health of women with nonhegemonic sexualities. Methodology. There were organized three groups formed by 36 lesbian women, 14 health professionals and 33 trans women. The group interviews applied were recorded and transcribed for the following content analysis. Results. during the different phases in their life courses, violence is always present in women with non-hegemonic sexualities, marked by regional differences, sexual orientation and gender identity. Conclusions. in contexts where a strong patriarchal culture domains, lesbophobia and transphobia are mechanisms that are placed in the base of different forms of violence against women with non-hegemonic sexualities. The limited exercise of rights and the contraction of possibilities to enjoy social opportunities for lesbian and trans women, generates psychological and sexual discomfort.
