ABSTRACT
Introduction: COVID-19 is the newly emerging infectious disease caused by the coronavirus. Both this new virus and the disease it causes were unknown before the outbreak in Wuhan, China; It is currently a pandemic that affects many countries. Stomatologists are an important component of the Cuban health system and carry out their work in different scenarios, both in direct patient care, in dental clinics or hospitals, as well as being an active part of the basic health team and participating in preventive work. Objective: To describe the application of hygienic sanitary measures in the dental office in front of the Covid-19. Method: A bibliographic review was carried out, where the different theoretical methods were used and 14 bibliographic references were consulted in sources such as Scielo, Infomed, and student and professional magazines. Development: The most frequently used items in dental care are waterproof gloves, gowns and aprons; eye protection (glasses, face shields); and devices to protect the mucous membranes of the mouth (masks, face shields). Conclusions: Dentists should be familiar with COVID-19 or, at least, with the mechanisms of prevention of direct contagion, as well as possible cross-infections or the role as an important vector in the transmission routes of the virus, as well as are with other types of infections. They must also know what kind of extra measures we must take in times of rapid spread of the virus, as in the global pandemic, described by the WHO, which is currently underway.REFERENCES
