Perspective of health professionals on COVID-19 at the

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 is caused by coronavirus type 2 of severe acute respiratory syndrome, which was detected in the city of Wuhan, capital of the province of Hubei, in China in December 2019. Objective: to characterize the perspective of health professionals on COVID-19 at the "Luis Galván Soca" Teaching Polyclinic. Material and methods: an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out at the "Luis Galván Soca" Teaching Polyclinic from March to June 2020. The universe was comprised of 30 health professionals, working with 100% of the universe. Descriptive statistics were used. Results: the group of 24 to 33 years with 46.66% was the most representative, with a predominance of the female sex. A predominance of very effective health protocols was observed according to the professionals' perspective with 70%. The low availability of protective equipment predominated, with 56.66%. Of the information sources, the mass media were the most referred by 22 professionals (73.33%). 56.66% of workers recognized that it takes more than 12 months to have a vaccine. Conclusions: the survey carried out showed different levels of perspectives evidenced by health professionals about COVID-19. The criteria provided constitute important evidence regarding the performance of health professionals in the face of the pandemic.
