ABSTRACT
Introduction: degenerative joint disease is the result of degenerative changes of articular cartilage. Alterations of the peripheral lamina of patients with this disease contribute to their diagnosis and assessment in regnerative medicine. Objective: describe the alterations of the peripheral lamina in patients with degenerative joint disease treated in the regenerative medicine service of the General Comandante Pinares Hospital of the San Cristóbal municipality during the period from January 2013 to December 2017. Material and methods: descriptive cross-sectional observational study based on the review of clinical records of cases with degenerative joint disease treated for 5 years. The data were processed in Microsoft Excel databases and using the descriptive statistical method they were analyzed. Sociodemographic variables (age, sex) were used; Measures were used to summarize qualitative data (percentage). Results: the female sex with 92 cases was the most affected with degenerative joint disease, the knee with 121 cases the most injured anatomical site, degenerative knee chondropathy with 61,4% presented the highest frequency; The main alterations of the peripheral lamina found were eosinophilia, neutrophilia, lymphocytopenia, leukocytosis, microcytosis and hypochromia. Conclusions: Orthopedics and Traumatology are among the specialties that pay the most attention to the development of regenerative medicine; Degenerative joint disease causes different alterations in the extended peripheral lamina of patients with this condition.REFERENCES
