ABSTRACT
Introduction: advanced molecular biology methods are a strong complement to the diagnosis of hematologic malignancies, however, the importance of classical histopathological studies should not be overlooked. Objective: to describe the histopathological characteristics of patients diagnosed with hematologic malignancies. Materials and methods: a descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted, which included 185 patients diagnosed with monoclonal gammopathies, lymphomas and chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms between 2008 and 2018. The pathological reports were compiled and absolute and relative frequency values were calculated for qualitative values and quantitative. Results: in the 185 patients diagnosed with hematologic malignancies, multiple myeloma was the most frequent with 68 cases (37%); 65 patients presented lymphomas (35%), of these 17 (24%) had Hodgkin's disease and 48 (74%) were non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. The most frequent histological variety in LH was nodular sclerosis with 6 cases (35 ,3%). Among NHL, diffuse large B cell lymphoma predominated with 9 (18.8%). In 100% of bone marrow biopsies in patients with chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms, he showed hyperplasia of the hematopoietic lines, with granulocytic predominance in chronic myeloid leukemia, erythrocytic in vera and megakaryocytic polycythemia in essential thrombocythemia. Conclusions: by means of the application of classic studies in haemolinphopoietic histopathology, it was obtained the diagnosis of the patients with haematological neoplasias, in those wich, the multiple myeloma proved to be the most frequent.REFERENCES
