Motivational strategy for the permanence of first-year students in the health information system

ABSTRACT
Introduction: student permanence is understood as the scenario that evidences the decision of the university to carry out the program offered by the educational institution, and that is favored by institutional, academic and socio-environmental conditions; a permanence with a meaning, that of carrying out an academic project that is part of the project of life, a permanence that generates well-being insofar as it corresponds to the desire of the student. Objectives: to describe the main motivational factors that influence the intention of career change of the students of Health Information Systems of the School of Health Technology in 2019 and to propose measures to motivate the permanence of the students in the career. Method: a descriptive cross-sectional research was carried out during the period from February to June of the academic year 2018-2019. The universe consisted of 44 first-year Health Information Systems students. No sampling was carried out. Results: when investigating the personal factor, it was found that for 75.75% of those surveyed, the aspects that integrate it have a high influence in that they have expressed the intention of changing careers, and that variables such as demotivation with the career 38%, little professional opportunity 21%, the influence of parents and friends 8%, represent for the students variables of importance to continue their academic education successfully within the institution. Conclusion: the intention to change careers of the students of Health Information Systems was fundamentally related to personal factors.REFERENCES
