ABSTRACT
Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) represents an integral role in the
diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. Evidence indicates that SD-OCT imaging artifacts are a
relatively common finding in clinical practice, so recognizing them is essential to interpret the
data accurately, as well as avoiding misdiagnosis and wrong therapeutic behaviors. This review describes, provides examples and raises the possible causes of the most common artifacts, as
well as the most frequent interpretation errors, observed with the use of SD-OCT Spectralis
during optic nerve analysis.
